FOREIGN UNIVERSITIES BILL LEADS TO SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC INEQUALITY IN HIGHER EDUCATION

The proposed bill that has been approved Union Cabinet and be placed in the Parliament will lead to social and economic inequality in higher education in the state.

The Foreign Educational Institutions (Regulation of Entry and Operations Bill) will lead to the mushrooming of sub standard Foreign Universities in the state. The Bill allow the Foreign Educational Institutions in India not to implement the constitutionally mandated reservation for SC/ST and other class which lead to the curtail of social justice. The Bill does not provide for any regulation of fees to be charged by Fops and give right to fix the fees their own in the institutions. The Bill is the attempt to commercialize the higher education sector. The Central Government instead of allowing foreign Universities to start teaching shops in the state expands the public sector. The State Committee urged to academic intelligentsia and student community to come forward against the Commercialization of education.
